GamiFIN will again be held in snowy and magical northern Finland!
GamiFIN 2025 conference welcomes paper submissions, posters, practical cases, work-in-progress notes, demos, special theme notes, and doctoral consortium applications.
Accepted papers will be published by CEUR and indexed as full peer-reviewed academic publications. CEUR-WS.org is a free open-access publication service and recognized ISSN publication series, ISSN 1613-0073.

Important dates
- November 17th, 2024: Papers’ submission deadline.
- December 23rd, 2024: Notifications of acceptance/rejection sent to authors.
- January 12th, 2025: Submission deadline for posters, work in progress, demos, doctoral consortium notes, practical cases.
- January 12th, 2025: Deadline for camera-ready submission for accepted papers.

Gamification is a multi-faceted phenomenon that affects many domains of human life. Therefore, we welcome submissions related to this ludic transformation of reality under several domains and related (but not limited) to the following keywords:

Special Themes
In addition to the normal program with a variety of submission formats (below), GamiFIN 2025 features a collection of workshops and seminars on SPECIAL THEMES. Hosted by topic experts and featuring lively discussions, hands-on activities, these workshops offer the chance to find new perspectives for your ongoing research or learn about different topics that you may not have heard before. Besides the typical submission formats, the special theme sessions welcome low-threshold extended abstracts and notes to be submitted as discussion pieces.

1. Paper submission guidelines:
Papers submitted to GamiFIN 2025 should have a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 pages (excluding references) – in accordance with the CEUR proceedings policy.
Accepted papers are published and indexed as full peer-reviewed publications.
All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer-review process. Therefore, the authors are required to remove any information that could give an indication of authorship.
In the online submission system, you will be asked to list the most relevant themes of your paper as keywords.
Paper submissions must conform to the CEUR 2-column word template available at: http://ceur-ws.org/Vol-XXX/CEUR-Template-2col.docx

At the conference, the authors of accepted papers will have approximately 15-20 minutes for their presentation, including the discussion.

2. Other submissions format:
Other submission formats allow you to gain valuable feedback from the experts and peers in the field of gamification. Authors of full papers whose paper submissions were not accepted this year may wish to consider submitting their paper in one of these categories as the deadline for submission for these categories takes place after the decisions on full papers have been rendered.
Submission guidelines:The submission will be reviewed by the program committee. After the notification of acceptance, you will receive instructions for the presentation preparation either at paper development workshop, poster session or exhibit.

The submission in these categories will not be published in the conference proceedings.
2.1. Work-in-progress notes
Work-in-progress notes represent any research work that is underway from a research plan to initial data analyses – not yet finished enough for a full paper submission. Work-in-progress notes should have a maximum of 5 pages including a list of references and should roughly follow a structure common to any research paper but instead of results they may discuss expected results and contributions.
Work-in-progress papers will be presented at the conference as part of a paper development workshop.
2.2. Demonstrations
Demonstrations focus on digital or physical artifacts and/or solutions related to the conference themes. Demonstration submissions should have a maximum of 5 pages including a list of references and should roughly follow a structure common to any research paper describing the motivation, background, purpose, design, and following (sought after) benefits or outcomes of the artefact.
Demonstrations will be presented at the conference as an exhibition or as part of a poster session depending on the author’s preferences and availability of materials to exhibit.
2.3. Practical cases
This category is an invitation to industry, civil society, and public institutions to present and discuss their gamification cases. Submissions should have a maximum of 5 pages including a list of references.

2.4. Posters
A poster submission represents any work related to the conference themes that the authors would like to present in a poster session and that did not necessarily fit under the other submission categories. Poster submissions should have a maximum of 5 pages including a list of references and should roughly follow a structure of any research paper.
Poster submission will be presented at the conference as part of a poster session.
3. Doctoral consortium submission guidelines:
We have developed the GamiFIN doctoral consortium to support and guide the doctoral students working on topics related to GamiFIN themes (see top of this page). The GamiFIN doctoral consortium is a place for doctoral students to present their work to a panel of leading scholars in the area of gamification and other accepted doctoral consortium students. The panel of experts will give each student feedback on their work and help guide them forward in their studies. Based on the experiences of previous GamiFIN doctoral consortia, the consortium also provides peer support and a community of students interested in similar topics.
You can apply to the doctoral consortium whether or not your work has been accepted for the conference (paper and/or poster).
To participate in the Doctoral Consortium, please submit a summary of your work (submission details below) and your CV by January 12th, 2025.

1. A maximum of five-page summary* of your doctoral research plan and status, including for example the following:
- Your research topic
- The goals and research problems and questions
- Your research approach and methods
- Theoretical framework(s) used in the research
- Publication plan
- The current status of your work
- Results to date
You may also list topics you would like to discuss at the consortium and questions to the consortium mentors and peers. * References are not included in the page limitation.

4. Special theme (Workshop/Seminar) guidelines:
The special theme activities welcome a maximum of up to 1-page extended abstracts or position notes that can be submitted for the session to be shared and discussed with other participants. Participation in the special theme workshops and seminars is open to anyone interested in the theme, regardless of having submitted a note for the session. This is also a chance to discover other topics that may relate to your work or learn about something exciting and different.
The special theme notes will be incorporated into the discussion at the special theme session

Proceedings, Publications and Presentations:
Authors of accepted papers have the option to fast-track extended versions to journals such as Electronic Markets (papers that approach the topic from the perspective of the digital economy ), Internet Research (papers that approach the topic from the perspective of Internet – related work), or AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interaction (papers that approach the topic from the perspective of human-computer interaction).
