The workshop aims to discuss key challenges in the application of personal robots for older adults and potential solutions to improve the support these robots provide for successful aging.
We welcome prospective participants to submit extended abstracts (2-4 pages excluding references) following the ACM proceedings format. We invite talks by Human-Robot Interaction, Aging, and Human Factors experts, as well as contributed talks by young researchers about their early-stage works. Papers can be on research that the authors would like to discuss during the workshop, especially encouraging papers on new ideas or research that the authors plan to conduct.
Papers should present aspects related to the utilization of personalized social robots for supporting older adults in various facets of life. Application domains span physical, social, cognitive, dyadic, and multi-agent interactions between humans and robots. The challenges include safety, explainability, trustworthiness, acceptance, usability, privacy, and ethical considerations for designing and utilizing personalized social robots. Papers dealing with evaluation procedures and performance measures that should be utilized in assessing personalized social robots are welcomed. We will prioritize papers focusing on testing in the real world.
Workshop papers must clearly indicate that they are part of the workshop on Personalized Social Robots to Support Successful Aging.
All material collected during the workshop: video, slides, invited talks and extended abstracts, will be made available on the workshop website.
Selected papers will be invited to submit an extended/revised version of the papers the Special issue of Frontiers in Aging (User-Centred Approaches for Designing Assistive Technologies to Support Older Adults). The acceptance of the submissions will be conditioned on the journal's review process. This provides more comprehensive documentation and a broader audience for the readership of the accepted articles.
