The 28th International Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators 2024 will be held in Berlin, September 18-20.
Into the great wide open?
This event seeks to explore the intricate dynamics between concepts of openness and closedness in science, technology, and innovation, emphasizing their impact on research, policy, and practice. The conference will be organized by Fraunhofer ISI, Humboldt University Berlin (Robert K. Merton Center for Science Studies), German Centre for higher education research and science studies (DZHW) in collaboration with the European Network of Indicator Developers (ENID). In this edition we intend to bring the best of on-site meetings together at the Fraunhofer Forum and Humboldt University in Berlin.
Submission Guidelines
The conference aims to provide a platform for discussing these conceptual issues alongside empirical evidence. It will explore the effects of different notions of openness and their implementation at various abstraction levels, the governance of what is considered open and closed, and the development of effective openness notions in the realm of indicators and beyond. Additionally, the conference seeks to facilitate community learning about the notions of openness adopted by others, contributing to a better understanding of their opportunities, limitations, and risks.
Detailed information on submission process are provided on STI2024 website.
