Cloud solutions have been predominantly used in IoT. However, applications sensitive to latency such as: critical security applications, military, medical-emergency, among others, becomes unfeasible the use of the Cloud, since, to perform calculations and actions would require the sending of information between devices and the Cloud. Fog Computing extends Cloud services to the edge of the network, taking advantage of it to support features such as mobility, location recognition and low latency. Its main objective is to avoid constant access to the Cloud and take advantage of storage and processing features of terminal devices. In this paper, we study Fog Computing's concepts and features, illustrate its reference architecture and reflect on components of its platform.
