Abstract

Digital media has become a powerful force in shaping contemporary language use, significantly influencing lexical innovation in English. This paper explores how digital platforms contribute to the evolution of the English lexicon, examining the processes through which new words and expressions emerge and gain acceptance. By analyzing data from various digital media sources, including social media, online forums, and digital news outlets, this study highlights key trends and mechanisms driving lexical innovation. The findings reveal that digital media not only accelerates the spread of new lexical items but also alters traditional patterns of language change, presenting both opportunities and challenges for language preservation and adaptation
