Philosophical Approaches and Methodological Challenges

EasyChair Preprint 14406

Abstract

Architectural research, traditionally rooted in the study of physical spaces and structures, is increasingly recognizing the importance of the human element in shaping and understanding built environments. This paper explores the integration of philosophical approaches in architectural research, emphasizing the role of human experience, perception, and interaction within spaces. By examining phenomenology, existentialism, and other human-centered philosophies, the study highlights how these perspectives can deepen our understanding of architecture beyond its physical form. However, incorporating these philosophical approaches presents significant methodological challenges.
