The polarization curves constructed for electrode processes allow us to draw a conclusion that the simultaneous behavior of several processes is possible in the specified electrolytes and these processes include chemical etching of metal due to its interaction with solution components, electrochemical dissolution under polarization conditions and the formation of the oxide film due to the anode oxidation. The prevalence of one or other type of the process in this case is defined by the electrolyte composition and the electric electrolysis parameters. The obtained data serve as a basis for the development of the new method of combined etching that provides the homogenization of the titanium surface with simultaneous elimination of toxic reagents from the process or the reduction of their concentration. Keyphrases: anodic behavior, etching, oxide film, passivation, polarization dependence
