AESLA 2016: Editor's Preface

This volume offers a selection of thirty nine papers presented at the the 34th International Conference of the Spanish Society for Applied Linguistics (AESLA 2016) held on April 12-15, 2016 in Alicante. For this volume we have selected only the papers written in English, since the volume addresses an international audience. All papers place different considerations about the applied linguistics field. The authors’ reflections on Professional and Academic Discourse: an Interdisciplinary Perspective fall into eight different areas of research: Language acquisition, Language teaching, Language for specific purposes, Sociolinguistics, Pragmatics, Discourse analysis, Corpus linguistics, computational linguistics and linguistic engineering and Translation and interpreting.  At the end of the review process, a total of 39 high quality research papers were selected and accepted for publication.
